How should traders use an economic calendar?
Check the high-impact events before you open a position. Spreads can widen and price can move sharply around a release, so many traders avoid entering just before one or trade a smaller size.
What do the impact levels mean?
High-impact events, such as Non-Farm Payrolls, CPI or a rate decision, often move a currency the most. Medium-impact releases can still matter when they surprise, while low-impact events rarely change the bigger picture on their own.
Why note news events in your trading journal?
Writing down whether a trade was opened close to a major release shows you over time how news affects your results, and helps you decide whether to trade these moments or stay out.
