Forecast – · Previous 20.9

The Philadelphia Fed Manufacturing Index surveys factories in the Philadelphia Fed district about business activity and demand. It offers an early regional snapshot before broader US manufacturing reports.

Positive readings suggest expansion compared with the previous month; negative readings suggest contraction. A big surprise can move the dollar, but regional surveys do not always agree with the national picture.

Usual effect: An actual figure above the forecast is generally good for the US dollar; a figure below the forecast is generally bad for it.
