Forecast – · Previous 2.65%

The ECB's main refinancing operations rate is one of the interest rates it sets for the euro area. The deposit facility rate is currently the main rate used to steer its monetary policy stance.

The announcement matters for the euro, especially when it surprises expectations. Traders also watch the deposit facility rate, policy statement and press conference to understand where ECB rates may go next.

Usual effect: An actual figure above the forecast is generally good for the euro; a figure below the forecast is generally bad for it.
