The EIA Natural Gas Storage report shows how much natural gas was added to or withdrawn from US underground storage over the week. Seasonal demand makes the number especially relevant during heating and cooling periods.
A smaller-than-expected injection or a larger withdrawal can lift natural gas prices. Weather forecasts, production and the current storage level can change the reaction, so this is mainly an energy-market event.
Usual effect: A smaller injection than forecast tends to lift natural gas prices; the effect on currencies is usually small.
