The MPC vote split shows how Bank of England policymakers voted on the latest Bank Rate decision. It reveals how much agreement there was behind a hold, cut or increase.

A decision can match expectations while the votes still surprise. More members pushing for a hike may support sterling, while growing support for cuts may weigh on it, depending on what markets had priced in.

Usual effect: More members voting for a hike, or fewer voting for a cut, than expected is generally good for the pound; the opposite is generally bad for it.
