Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey speaks at public events, hearings and discussions about the UK economy and monetary policy. These appearances give markets insight between scheduled rate decisions.

Remarks about wages, services inflation or when Bank Rate might change can move sterling and UK bond yields. Traders compare his message with the latest MPC decision rather than treating every speech as new guidance.

Usual effect: A more hawkish tone than expected is generally good for the pound; a more dovish tone is generally bad for it.
