The Bank of Canada's Monetary Policy Report sets out its economic forecasts and the assumptions behind them. It is typically released alongside selected interest rate decisions.
Changes to expected inflation, growth or economic slack can influence the outlook for future rates. Traders often focus on how the new projections differ from the last report, not just the headline decision.
Usual effect: A more hawkish tone than expected is generally good for the Canadian dollar; a more dovish tone is generally bad for it.
